Blog Re-visited
Tonight, Johnny and I had the best time looking at my old blog. Unfortunately, I stopped posting when he was about 2 years old, but we've decided that it's not too late to start again. This time, we'll do it together. Johnny chose this photo as the first one he wanted to post. He is a big Harry Potter fan, and he made the cutest Harry Potter for Halloween! That's not a bruise on his forehead...it is his lipstick lightning scar!

Johnny is 2!!
Can you believe this little guy turned 2 today? I can't! It seems like it was only yesterday that he joined our family. What a fun time we have had with him. He was quite solemn on his birthday, which is a little unusual for him. I think he gets a little overwhelmed with presents. But after he opened them all (with a lot of help) and carefully figured out how each one worked, he looked up and gave us a huge smile and said, "Tant-too (thank-you)! He was fascinated with the candle...
Johnny: No!
John: Can Mama have a truck?
Johnny: No!
John: Does Johnny get all the trucks? Johnny (with a big smile): YES!

Johnny's First Snowman
With our balmy weather and rain this weekend, you would hardly guess that we had a pretty significant snow last weekend. Here are pictures of John teaching Johnny to make his first snowman.
Then, they moved on to snowball throwing.
Johnny was more of a participant in this activity than building a snowman. Do you see the snowball he threw on the right side of the photo? Pretty good, huh!

Whenever he is in a new or stressful situation (not that building a snowman is that stressful, but he wasn't used to being out in an actual snow storm and he had fallen down a couple of times trying to navigate the snow in boots), Johnny likes to ground himself by going back to the familiar.
He starts with "Eyes..."
It cracks me up and is one of the cutest things he does.
Last week, he was in the middle of a meltdown so John put him in his crib and he heard this wobbly, tearful little voice reciting, "Eyes, nose, mouth."

Do I look like Mr. Potato Head?
Tonight, as I sat watching t.v., Johnny
jumped up on the couch, grabbed my
glasses off of my nose and gleefully
replaced them with his Mr. Potato Head
glasses. Then he burst out laughing.
I think it was the first time that he
connected that his Mr. Potato Head
glasses were a toy version of what I
wear every day.
He makes us laugh every single day!

Flashback
This morning as I was getting ready for church,
I noticed that Johnny had stepped into my shoes
and was walking around the house.
It reminded me of Kevin, who used to do
the exact same thing when he was the
exact same age! There are so many
things about these boys that are so different,
but other things are wonderfully similar and
it is fun to have sweet memories while
we are making new ones.

Halloween at the Simmons' House
Ooohhh! What's this stuff for?
John bought Johnny a cute lion costume, but unfortunately he was deathly afraid of the hat. It's a good thing his Aunt Suzy gave him these cool glow-in-the-dark skeleton pajamas. They made a great costume he was willing to wear.
Is there anything better than a bowl of candy?
